The purpose of dc biasing of a transistor is to obtain a certain dc collector current at a certain dc collector voltage. these values of current and voltage are expressed by the term operating point (quiescent point) . To obtain the operating point, we make use of some circuits; and these circuits are called "biasing circuits" .Of course , while fixing the operating point, it has to be seen that it provides proper dc conditions so that the specific function of the circuit is achieved. the suitability of an operating point for the specific application of the circuit should be seen on the transistor characteristics.
